Throw Back Thursday: The Offspring

The Offspring is the band that got me into punk music.  Believe it or not, these guys have been around since 1984.  Americana was released in 1998, and "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" may be responsible for more 90's kids learning how to count in Spanish than Sesame Street.  I remember stealing my sister's copy of Americana from her CD rack that was always right next to one of her Jock Jam's albums.  With other great singles "The Kids Aren't Alright" and "Why Don't You Get A Job?", Americana is a must-have album for punk fans.

Americana made it to number 2 on the Billboard 200 and sold around 175,000 albums in its first week.  Americana is The Offspring's second best-selling album behind Smash.  For some perspective, The Offspring have released nine studio albums to date.
